"THE LOVERS II, BY RENÉ MAGRITTE", TRANSFORMED INTO A 3D LOOP.
3D + BLENDER + RENOWED PAINTING
A small idea to convert renowned paintings into 3D in order to enhance the dynamics of the artwork. And I have chosen the famous surrealist artist René Magritte, as his work possesses a distinct appearance that lends itself well to being presented in 3D.
"The Lovers II" is one of Rene Magritte's well-known works. My thought is to extend the kissing movement and create a loop animation, allowing viewers to gaze at it like appreciating a painting, without interruption to their thoughts caused by editing cuts.
I used Blender to create the male and female characters from the painting, added a suit, set up an armature for them, and posed the characters to match the renowned painting. Additionally, I sculpted the head masks for the characters.

While working on this project, I came across a YouTube channel called Barely Art. I discovered a video on the channel that showcased a painting shader, which effectively transforms textures to resemble paintings. so I decided to incorporate that shader into my project.

For the animation, I added a cloth simulation to the head mask, which required endless adjustments and baking time :(

However, I noticed that the mask simulation eventually became problematic. Therefore, I decided to keep the animation short to save considerable baking time and proceed to the next step, despite the presence of some remaining flaws.

Finally, to create a loop for the cloth simulation, it needs to be exported in .mdd format and imported back into Blender. This will become a shape key animation. I set it to two timelines and utilize the first 20 frames to blend the start and end of the animation.
